The Community Recognition Program is a way to recognize each member’s contributions to the NWB community. The Program awards points for each member’s contributions to the site. As a member earns more points, he or she will progress through five different levels, starting with Member and ending with All-Star. NOTE:- Members who havent scored any points in a 3 month period will be REMOVED from the site.

How do I score points?
The program is very simple. Various activities on the site have points associated with them, and when a community member does that activity he or she will receive that many points.

What are Community Recognition Points?
You get points, for adding gigs, posting blogs, posting comments e.t.c. The more you involve yourself with the community the more points you get :-)

Do I start with any points?
All members start off with ZERO points.

Can I lose points?
Yes. If for example you post a blog, and later remove it from the site. If you breach the Terms of Use, you will lose 100 points.

Can I find out where my points are coming from?
Yes. Login to your admin area and click on "Community Recognition"

Won’t some people try to manipulate the system?
Yes, and where we determine that is occurring we reserve the right to either deduct points or ban the account.

Will you be expanding the set of activities that points can be earned from?
Yes. Over time we expect to expand this list of activities.

merely an observation? "community recognition programme" sounds rather arkansaw chain gangy, methinks? am definitely liking the concept, and can see the "business case" for it??
but, perhaps, something like "community involvement status",*community activity", or similar? bit less sherriff roscoe p. coltraine?? :-))) anything but CRP!!! you know what some of this lot are like-toilet jokes galore!!!

I thought a "CRP RATING" would have have a humourus edge to it, made me chuckle anyways. The rating isnt stating "how good a band is", merely how much they've contributed to the site. This site is what people make of it, and to be honest I'm wholeheartedly impressed with the signup ratio over the past couple of days!! - I havent even mailshotted or spread the word.

If you remember, the "rating" was built into the last NWB site, just that no one really noticed it. In this reincarnation of the site, Id like to bring it more to the forefront.

As you say the CRP rating could make good business sense. This site makes ZERO cash (and purely funded by yours truely!), and im hoping that bands would donate to the site in return for a boost in their CRP rating. One idea buzzing round my head is to have a "DONATE" button in the gig submission section. Something along the lines of "Did NWB help you score this gig? Why not donate 50p of your gig wage in return for 50 CRP points" :-)

Well done Paul site looking good so far MATEY!!

"The rating isnt stating "how good a band is", merely how much they've contributed to the site. This site is what people make of it,"- absolutely! furthermore, that goes for fans as well? most major communication networks these days have "use it or lose it" policy. it's pointless signing up to something then doing nothing for months-just takes up vital bandwidth?

sign up ratio is excellent? you're getting former nwb'ers and starting to get some new? there is now considerable "word of mouth" on the circuits? people are starting to see the potentials of the networking on here?

"Did NWB help you score this gig? Why not donate 50p of your gig wage in return for 50 CRP points" :-)"

again-see the business case for that-might need slightly more inducement to errrrr-"encourage?"some bands to accept that one?

by the way-take no notice of fab eggs, mr nwb. he's only trying to manipulate the crp!!! :-))

# Posted by mr.nwb - 03/04/2008, 23:49 (GMT)
Yep, Hence why im slowly going through deleting off topic blog comments.

Once the band profiles are up and running fans/bands will be able to put whatever comments to each other. I'd like the Community Blog to remain "clean", hence it being called "community blog" and not "anarchy blog"

The only thing I manipulate is myself- I will blog tho- defo rant- and will comment appropriatly- reading the "rules" looks like Paul has gone all NAZI and wants to dish out some b*****ckings for "MANIPULATION" such as the charts and stuff on the last site!

# Posted by viking - 03/04/2008, 23:51 (GMT)
ahem!!! noted, mr nwb!!:-/

# Posted by The Fabulous Eggs - 03/04/2008, 23:52 (GMT)
To be honest I think it is a great idea- however one of my favourite sngs is IIII WANNNA BEEEEE ANARCHY

# Posted by viking - 03/04/2008, 23:56 (GMT)
eek! was i "off topic" so many times??

# Posted by viking - 04/04/2008, 00:16 (GMT)
errr-mr nwb!!! where's all my comments going to?? i wasn't THAT off topic?? i make it rather more legitimate ones than that!!!

# Posted by mr.nwb - 04/04/2008, 00:20 (GMT)
Just doing a general clear out - I'll reset your CRP back to normal. Most of the comments were cross posts, or just general off topic. Dont worry, I deleted a load of my comments as well. I think we all got into a "WHHHEYY HEYYY!! ITS ALL NEW!!"

Just in the early stages we need to strive as we mean to continue.

# Posted by viking - 04/04/2008, 00:21 (GMT)
phew! thought it was cause i is blond??(but you DO have a point?) once we get profile blogs and comments up and running??)

# Posted by mr.nwb - 04/04/2008, 00:29 (GMT)
No worries - youve been awarded 50 CRP points. I just had a look through the new users list, and checking out "how people found the site" - Quite a few have noted your as the referer. Nice work!

I think that might be another way to gain CRP points. By naming a referrer - Idea to go into the bag.

# Posted by viking - 04/04/2008, 00:34 (GMT)
awwww-shucks!! for some reason, people seem to take viking seriously when he talks about music and good sites-anything else he says is pure TRIPE!!!
seriously-any bands who play shaw or the waggon are hassled by me to get on here. is in their interests, with the networks and venues we have, to do so? plus-a bit of self interest here-i can keep an eye out for when they play near me again? the system works!!

I'm liking this new CRP points system. I remember on the old site, there were a lot of members, venues especially, that weren't active members which was disappointing as I think it would be great for them to network with bands and then bands to fans alike. If they don't get any CRP (LOL) they get deleted which makes sure none of the bands are investing time trying to contact the non-NWB active venues through this site.

# Posted by mr.nwb - 06/04/2008, 19:15 (GMT)
Glad you like the CRP system - Its something which was in the last nwb site, just it wasnt promoted as much.

The bands/venues with the greater CRP points will feature more predominately on the site, and hence giving greater exposure/advertising oportunity for promoting gigs.

# Posted by Uncle Rotter - 07/04/2008, 17:53 (GMT)
Yes, I noticed the points in the old nwb, like the more stuff you had on your page, the higher the score, but there were no rewards for having a high CRP except for having a high number, whereas on this new NWB, it gives us a reason to strive and add things to our profiles, and network more to earn the points and be more popular, without rigging the CRP points system of course.

# Posted by The Fabulous Eggs - 08/04/2008, 21:43 (GMT)
Paul- or Mr NWB

do you have CRP points?

# Posted by mr.nwb - 08/04/2008, 21:47 (GMT)
Yep I acculumate CRP points - However administrators are exempt from appearing in the CRP charts.

# Posted by viking - 08/04/2008, 22:16 (GMT)
hey mrs nwb! you're not on top of this yet??
"Yep I acculumate CRP points - However administrators are exempt from appearing in the CRP charts."

yep! can see how you might have a bit of an unfair advantage there?? could even be accusations of "chart rigging"!!! (as IF!!)
(and-i'm sorry!! i still can't read discussions on the "crp" without going into fits of the giggles?? i have this vision of a chain gang of nwb'ers, all shouting "permission to write blog, massa?" or "going to make a comment, now, baaassss!") but i'm sure i'm in the minority on this one.

# Posted by The Fabulous Eggs - 08/04/2008, 22:22 (GMT)
I have had another comment removed I cant remember what i posted but it was wiped!! BUGGER!!

# Posted by ATLANTA ROOTS - 09/04/2008, 08:49 (GMT)
I had 9 posts wiped at 11.45pm and I wasn't even at my computer at that time.

# Posted by mr.nwb - 09/04/2008, 11:44 (GMT)
Community Ratings is something used widely in many forums/Discussion groups and community websites. If they can cope with it then so should NWB. The website www.asp.net website uses a similar CRP to great effect, and creates a proactive environment for people to contribute to the site.

In terms of comments being deleted. The circumstances where a comment can be deleted

1. All community blog comments can be deleted by an administrator
2. The user who posted the comment can delete the comment
3. The blog owner can delete any of the comments in his/hers blog

Atlanta Roots, which blog were your comments deleted from?

# Posted by mr.nwb - 09/04/2008, 11:48 (GMT)
re: Atlanta roots - You didnt have any comments removed last night, however you had 9 comments removed on the 03/04/2008 23:45:17 by an administrator. Possibly for off topic/redundant comments. Dont take offence, its just to keep the community blog tidy.

# Posted by ATLANTA ROOTS - 09/04/2008, 14:09 (GMT)
no I didn't mean last night, I stated 11.45pm because I knew I was definately of line when they were deducted, sorry about the confusion. It's confusing because no reason is given. No offence taken by the way. Anyway it's only a game innit? LoL.....AR
