THE OXFORD pub, Oxford Square, Blackpool, will be opening in approximately four weeks. It has been shut for about four months but is now under new ownership. Aswell as all the usual you would expect from a pub, (live football/sport, food, darts, pool, etc), the main focus of the pub will be on live music in the evenings. THE OXFORD is keen to establish itself as a premier live music venue within Blackpool, sustaining and embracing Blackpool and the fylde coast's growing live music scene. The venue will cater for both cover bands and original material bands/artists of all genres. We will endeavour, where possible, to keep the live music nights genre specific ie, punk bands on a bill with other punk bands, therefore playing to a punk crowd and so on and so forth. There will be NO admission charge on live music nights. Original material unsigned nights will generally consist of four bands/artists on a bill, two from Blackpool/fylde coast and two from out of town. Cover bands will be required to bring all their own equipment (as is the norm). Original material unsigned bands/artists will have use of the in-house pa, monitors etc, and our in-house sound engineer will look after the sound. Original material unsigned bands/artists will be required to bring their own backline and cymbals/snare (unless they are the headline band on the bill, in which case they will need to bring their full drum kit).

If you would like to play a gig at THE OXFORD, get in touch with us ASAP as we are BOOKING NOW! Either PM us or call: 07843 828 798
We will require a demo if you play original material, (no more than four tracks though please).

Cheers, THE OXFORD

Great to have the Oxford up and running! - Blackpool needs more venues for bands to play.

How many people, roughly, do you think could fit in The Oxford at most?

# Posted by THE OXFORD - 08/04/2008, 22:36 (GMT)
Not 100% sure on how many people we could fit in. But as a rough guide, we are a big pub split into two rooms, with the stage in the bigger of the two rooms at one end. We have a full sound set up, so obviously we are big enough to warrant that. Similar size to Dry Bar (Manchester), or Fudge@The Krazyhouse (Liverpool). Give or take a bit and shaped different. If thats any help?

Will you be putting rock tributes on at your venue? We are a tribute to Thin Lizzy called Twin Lizzy. Currently we don't play a venue in Blackpool and would love to talk to you about a possible gig. We used to play the Belle Vue before it changed into a restaurant. Feel free to visit our website @ www.twinlizzy.com or contact Taff on 01924 274159. Good luck with the bands. Roger TWIN LIZZY.

You could set a mini bus service so people can catch the bands between the venues. Its something which Riffs and West Coast Rock Cafe used to do.

It is great to see some new venues to play in Blackpool. The Belle Vue was a cool place, but since turned into a Brewers Fayre (eurgh)

Hello everybody. Thanks for all your interest. Any bands that have contacted us, please be patient, we will get back to you. We are flat out busy at the minute getting everything sorted with the venue before we open.

The King Edward Vii Pub: Ace pub for bands, was in there the other week actually. We will definitely get something going with our venues together.

Speak to you all soon.
