Hi Everyone,
I promised everyone that Whittles would be having another Battle of the Bands ("BoB") this year, and here's the official launch.
PLUS - I'm starting what I'm calling "Exposure Nights", which is aimed at the new bands who have never played in public.
Provided a band's rehearsal room owner/manager assures me they've got a 30 min set, and are half-decent musicians, I will let them play here, for free, at Oldham's Premier Rock Venue, on a Monday or a Wednesday.
PLEASE PASS THIS E-MAIL ONTO ANY BANDS YOU KNOW WHO MIGHT FANCY EITHER CHALLENGE.
Attached is "The Format", which is basically the same as last year, but with different dates, and the entry form.
Last year the total value of the sponsorship was in excess of £3,200
Prizes this year -
I've already got Voodoo Studios stumping up 1 & 1/2 days of studio time for the winner.
I've already got Wall of Sound stumping up wads of practise session time.
I've already got Carling sponsoring the jugs of Carling for playing.
I'm hoping that OHM Electrical will be putting some cash for prizes up again.
And, of course, there's the money from Whittles (Here For You Hospitality) as well.
IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO JUST MIGHT OFFER SOME SPONSORSHIP - LET ME KNOW.
I'm already contacting other possible sponsors.
There's also the "Gigging in Whittles 2008" guide, with notes about the in-house equipment - PA, drum-kit etc.
PLUS - "zQ nites", which started in February, and run to the week before BoB starts, are now FULLY BOOKED.
I'll be resuming them in January 2009.
FINALLY - "Christie's Hospital Charity Night" - Thur 26th June 2008, 02:00 bar extension.
Martin Schofield of Wall of Sound Studios is again arranging what bands will play.
What I want is stuff for the auction and the raffle. .
There's always someone looking for a cheap guitar, guitar pedal etc, or an unwanted bottle of something, or anything else that's "too good to just throw away" that's in reality just getting in your way.
So if any of you have anything to give me, I'll be delighted to take it off your hands
