I have a Yamaha EMX 501 powered mixer, one of its many wonderful features is the 'High Pass Filter' switch, i am sure it is a common feature on most desks, the manual says stuff, but my underdeveloped brain dont get it, i was a victim of secondry modurn educashun..... it says "The HPF cuts frequencies below 80 HZ"??? whats it for, how do i use it to good effect, can it make any difference to peaking levels?? So many questions so little time...
Can anybody shed any light on this for me??
Gaz.

As above - it can be useful for stopping booming noises on hollow stages etc, eg when someone walks near a mikestand and the mike picks it up.
