We love Line 6. We have two variaxes, two pod XT lives and a UX2 audio interface. Not to mention all the great software

I love my pod xt live, but I've had a play with the new Pod X3, and all I can say is "OOOOOOOH MAMA"
It is well and truly the mutts nuts.

Although, I'm still happy with my XT Live.
Spent a long time setting it up to the way I like it and gigged with it many times and I love it.

For me, the best part of it is the USB interface. I just hook my laptop up to it and use the GUI to tweak my sounds.

Would love to try it with a Variax.

They are brilliant, you can download virtually any sound you want directly from the net, saves hours of programming. Plus if your at a gig and your amp packs in you can always turn on the amp section and bang it through the PA

bah, reminds me of what the guitarist from kiss said, something about effects being rubish and to get the best sound it should be guitar straight into the amp. i think thats a silly thing to say i mean if NOBODY used effects wouldnt everyone sound almost the same? everyone used the same distortion or such wouldnt it be somewhat harder to express yourself?

discuss =)

I've always considered myself a purist. A Les Paul, Marshall or Orange valve amp and a 4 x 12 was all I ever wanted. I've only had the full set for a year or so and I love them all. When we do Bad Co. Free, AC/DC it's spot on.

But, and it's a big But, your average pub audience watching a covers band expects an authentic sound. So how do you do the intro to Enter Sandman or Dakota or Ain't Talking 'bout Love without effects? The answer is badly.

I now also have a SpiderIII 2x12 and floorboard and the original sounds are nailed and rehearsals are a breeze, no more carrying the 4x12 up 2 flights of stairs. I still use the Orange and 4x12 when necessary but the Line6 has made gigging so much more enjoyable and my eyes have been well and truly opened. The range of sounds from this thing is amazing. If I hadn't been so far up my own rear end I would have bought one ages ago and saved a lot of frustration.

Still, just my two penneth. Each to their own.
