Hello NWBers, Yes it’s the Pig. The First of the “New Pig Blogs”, chronicling the exploits of “the Pipkins” aka Wrecked. Pig originally thought of just doing one blog a month, but after fifteen gigs last month, and the fact that Pig had his brain transplanted with one from a goldfish they all seem to have become a blur of rock n roll mayhem. Pig does however remember being well looked after at The Hindley Arms, Bike and Hound, Derby Arms and meeting a Viking (Rawk N Roll) at the Cricketers. A big thanks to all our old friends who came out to see us and hello to the new friends we made.
So it’s on to this weekends activities. Friday the Pipkins were at the Queens in Colne, another fav venue (aren’t they all!). A big hello to Cath for having us on, and hello to Katie from the Derby Arms and Dave from The Shooters who came to see us. Hartley hare rocked his way through the night and I have it on good authority Cath was taking some “interesting” photos of Hartley with several women (must be the long ears they like). Mooney was on the drums and was banging away as usual to the delight of several females in the audience (must be a good banging they like, ooh er missus). Pig just rocked his little (size 10) trotters off. T’was a good night yet again in Colne.
Saturday the Pig looked out the Sty window, the weather wasn’t too bad. But as Pig and Pigeon travelled down the M6 the sky got darker and darker. Pig looked at the sky and said to Pigeon, “I bet that big dark cloud is hanging over Horwich”, and guess what, yep Pig was right. Rain rain, why is it always fraggin raining. Anyway Pig and Pidge got to the Victoria in Horwich and set up with the rest of the gang. The Pipkins thought they were going to have a very quiet night, but in the end it weren’t a bad turnout and it turned into another great enjoyable gig, with a few funny moments, like when Hartley stepped on his guitar lead and his guitar went off, a regular classic! And Pig starting a song on four when it should have been five (whoops!). Topov was on the drums this night and did his drum solo which includes him playing to “in the mood”, which always goes down well. Hartley did his guitar hero bit at both nights and as usual enjoyed getting the local “totty” to come and finger his “wood” on stage during Let there be rock (that’s play with his guitar by the way).
Little Adam Hare (Son of Hartley) has established himself as part of the show at most gigs and astounds the audience with his drumming skill. At ten years old he has already become quite a star in his own right. Adam played three songs at both gigs to the delight of all.
Yet another enjoyable weekend, thanks to all, we love you.
The Pipkins say keep music live, and yes we know it’s cheaper to stay in and drink your tinnies, but the pubs and bands need your support to keep the venues “Live and Kicking”. And also Pig needs the money for Chocolate, Hartley needs his Carrots, Topov needs his Bananas, but no nuts or chicken feed please, ha ha!
Remember the Pig Blogs are a bit of fun, if you want a serious debate go find a master!
So the Pipkins “rock n roll machine” rambles on to the Nags head in Macclesfield next week, another new venue to look forward to. So cheers from Hartley Hare, Pig, Topov the monkey, Mooney the Badger, Octavia the ostrich, Pigeon and Adam Hare.
Oh yes, and congrats to Mr and Mrs Nwb.
Toodle Pig.
