I saw this earlier on a thread from basschat.co.uk and thought it very interesting...

Hopefully it'll be of interest to any bands looking for a deal.

possible the most cynicle piece of writing ive ever read!
it bugs me to see that people see things this way and think that there are only people out there to screw you over. yeah im sure that 50% of record labels etc are like that but im also sure that there are a few good guys out there really working on behalf of their bands. maybe im just nieve but i like to think that the world we live in today makes it possible for people with talent to achieve what they want. theres loads of examples of poeple who've made a breakthrough from albums they've recorded at home! and so they should at the end of the day raw talent will always win through. and as for that piece about you shouldnt be able to record music unless your fucking einstein, my blood did boil! music should never be an elitist thing, never! john lennoen probably couldnt tell you all that frequency shit (not only coz hes dead) and im damn sure that noel gallagher doesnt know any of it either. but not only would i not mind thier money i would also love to be able to write tunes like them! in short the guy who wrote that piece is an idiot! phew!!!

Hi The Fix, yes, quite cynical writing. I must admit i didn't have a clue about the technical stuff, but the sums at the end were interesting, I had no idea record companies take such a huge slice. I know you can't rely on everything you read on the internet, but it does make you think!

OMG! Just read the article, thought it was great fun. I love peoples opinions especially when they have devoted some serious time to developing them (right or wrong). BUT, MY F**KING EYES>>> whats with the colours...man I couldn't blink after reading through it...painful...

p.s. You back gigging yet Matt?

Hello Woody,

Our first gig with Dunc on drums is at the Uluru on 21st November, so we're all looking forward to that. Have you had any luck sorting out anything new?

cheers
Matt
